Routes to Roots Film Festival announces first feature:
‘I Dream in Another Language’: “poetic Mexican film”
NORFOLK COUNTY, Ont. – August 3, 2017 – I Dream in Another Language, directed by Ernesto Contreras, will be featured as the Saturday afternoon matinee film on October 20, 2017, at the Routes to Roots Film Festival (R2RFF) in the town of Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada.
The story follows a young linguist who travels to the jungle of Mexico to research and save a mysterious indigenous language. As he discovers, it’s at the point of disappearing since the last two speakers had a fight fifty years ago and refuse to speak a word with each other.
It’s a “poetic Mexican film” (Variety magazine) that is “thought-provoking, visually compelling” (Hollywood Reporter) and “delectably watchable” (New York Times).
I Dream in Another Language fits well in the theme of R2RFF, a showcase of local, national, and international film with an emphasis on themes of returning to roots, rural life, and connectedness.
The Routes to Roots Film Festival (October 20-21, 2017) exists to engage audiences with award-winning, thought-provoking storytelling that may be unavailable elsewhere, encourage new and emerging filmmakers and celebrate Norfolk County as a place to visit, live and work.
