The long-discussed idea of bringing a film festival to Norfolk will hit the big screen later this year, writes Jacob Robinson of the Simcoe Reformer.
The three-day (Oct. 19-21) Routes to Roots Film Festival, brainchild of Strand Theatre owner Kent Rapley and local judge/businessman Mike McArthur, will not only feature local talent but become a boon for the county as a whole.
The group of volunteers has already partnered with the Ontario South Coast Growers and Wineries.
“We want people to live, work and visit Norfolk County and by having a film festival it’s just one more way to attract people to come here to see what we have to offer,” said Jim Carroll, a spokesperson for the Strand.
“We want to have an opportunity to get some local work up on the screen as well.”
